Call for Applications: Research and Capacity Building Manager

The African Centre for Tax and Governance (ACTG) is seeking an experienced, innovative, and motivated Research and Capacity Building Manager to strengthen our mission of advancing tax policy and tax administration reforms.
This critical role involves overseeing research initiatives, designing capacity-building programmes, and driving knowledge-sharing efforts that empower stakeholders and promote evidence-based policy making.

Please note: Applicants must be resident in Nigeria and eligible to work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research Leadership & Management: Develop and execute ACTG’s research agenda, focusing on tax policy and administration, public policy, and good governance. Lead research projects and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs.
  • Capacity Building Programmes: Design and implement effective capacity-building programmes tailored to the needs of government officials, civil society, and other stakeholders. Oversee workshops, training sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Engage with local and international partners, policymakers, and academic institutions to foster collaborations that enhance ACTG’s research and capacity-building efforts.
  • Knowledge Dissemination: Ensure the dissemination of research findings and resources through publications, policy briefs, and other media to enhance the impact of ACTG’s work.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Develop systems to track the impact and effectiveness of research and capacity-building initiatives, making adjustments as needed to maximise reach and relevance.
  • Resource Mobilisation for Research Projects: Identify funding opportunities and work with the team to secure grants and partnerships to support research and capacity-building projects.

Qualifications

  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in research management, capacity building, public policy, or related fields, with a strong background in governance, public finance, or tax policy.
  • Educational Background: Advanced degree in public policy, economics, international development, or a related field.
  • Research & Analytical Skills: Extensive experience in conducting, managing, and reviewing research projects, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Training & Facilitation: Proven expertise in designing and delivering training programmes, workshops, or capacity-building activities.
  • Networking & Collaboration: Strong ability to build partnerships with academic institutions, think tanks, government bodies, and other stakeholders.
  • Passion for Governance & Development: A deep understanding of governance issues in Africa, with a commitment to driving impactful change through research and capacity building.
